Explorers Nursery and Wrap-around Care

About Explorers

Explorers is a self-funded care facility managed by Governors of our school.
For more information please call the school office on 01889 228740 or Explorers on 07415082258

We offer care from 7.30 in the morning until 6.00 in the evening.

The facility allows parents the opportunity to pursue their employment, education or training commitments, safe in the knowledge that their children are being cared for in familiar and comfortable surroundings, outside of normal school hours.

The provision is in a classroom within the heart of the school.

All staff are fully vetted and DBS checked with relevant qualifications, experience and pediatric first aid training.

During the working day, we facilitate funded and non-funded sessions for nursery aged children. We accept children from two years and above, including those with Think2 funding, rising 3s and 30 hours childcare. Please see below for details:

Think 2 – If you are in receipt of certain benefits you may be eligible to claim 15 hours funded childcare for your child. The starting date for this is the term starting after your child’s 2nd birthday.

Rising 3s – The term after your child turns 3; they are automatically eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare. For example, if your child turns 3 in October, they can start taking their funded sessions starting in January.

30 hours funded – If you are working 16 hours of more at the minimum wage (or equivalent) you are most probably eligible for 30 hours funded childcare for your 3 year old. Similarly to Rising 3s, this can start the term after your child turns 3. For this to happen, you will need to apply and get an eligibility code before the end of the term you are in for the funded place to start in the next term. Check your availability and register at: childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/par/app/applynow

Paid 2s, 3s and 4s – We offer care throughout the day even for children who do not receive funding. Please see the attached price list for session times and charging.
