Celebrating World Mental Health Day
31/10/2019
Learners in Year 5 and 6 were involved in a special mental health day workshop with Malachai, a local mental-health and wellbeing charity for children and young people last week. I think it is fair to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session, and we all took a lot of ideas out of it to support us in looking after our own mental health. One of our Year 6 learners said ‘I really enjoyed the assembly and the workshop. I didn’t feel embarrassed sharing my feelings as we were all doing it together. The games were a fun way to discuss feelings, emotions and friendships’, and another said that ‘the workshops were really interesting. It helped us to learn new ways of managing our feelings and cope with everyday stress. I feel more confident to talk to people about how I feel now.’ Thank you to Malachai for coming to work with us, we are looking forward to putting the strategies we learnt to good use!

25/03/2019
Unfortunately, due to a range of factors, we need to reschedule our Make A Wish fundraiser. This will now taske place on 5th July. Further details are below:
Make-A-Wish create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, creating incredible memories, building confidence and bringing happiness and providing respite from the daily struggles that come with a critical illness. One of our children has recently benefited from a Wish, and the impact has been amazing!
We would love to support the charity to help other children to experience having a Wish granted, and have therefore arranged a special event day on Friday 5th July (the last day of next half term) to raise money for the charity. Children will be able to come in non-uniform for a £1 donation, and there will also be a sponsored run/bike ride, a penalty shootout, soak the teacher and other activities for children to enjoy. Further details are to follow so keep your eyes peeled!
In addition, Mr Gaffiney is also participating in both the 100 mile Ride London bike ride on 4th August, and the two mile open water Swim Serpentine event on 21st September in support of the charity. If you wanted to make a donation for these events separately then you can do this via the following link:

We are really looking forward to the fundraisers and to supporting this really worthy cause – thanks in advance for your support!

An exciting new project with the Central Co-operative Learning Trust!
As part of our developing partnership with the Central Co-operative Learning Trust, we are beginning to plan an exciting project for Spring term 2019 based on the theme of ‘Journeys’. All the children will have chance to take part in an arts activity such as dance, music, drama, film making, art, cooking, poetry etc., and we are hoping to be able to share these projects with our community as well as our partners. It will be a fantastic experience for everyone, and something to really celebrate!
It would be great to involve as many of you as possible in this - if you have an interest and enthusiasm for arts we would love to work with you! We would also like to make this a really inspiring local event - if you know anyone locally who might be able to support us with this, or who might be willing to offer advice, support or resources then we'd really appreciate it!
We can't wait to create this superb opportunity for our learners, and to share it with you!

Learners in Years 1 and 2 had a fantastic topic day on Monday 5th February when the Treasure Trove Puppet Company visited the school for a special performance and puppet making workshop. The learners were enthralled with the puppets on display and all involved asked very insightful questions during the question and answer session. All learners then took part in a puppet making workshop where they made amazing moveable puppets of their own to complete their ‘Playful Puppets’ topic this term.

We were overwhelmed with the support and donations received for this year’s Harvest Festival. Your generous donations were delivered to the Rugeley Foodbank on Friday and were very well received by to see them through this very difficult period. We collected even more non-perishable goods than ever before this year and I think they wished they brought a bigger vehicle!
Thank you to all who attended our Harvest Festival last Friday. With your support it was a huge success and we were so proud of the LEARNER values on display with every child across the school performing and sharing their learning showing excellence and resilience in all that they do.
Thank you for your donations and your support - it really helped to make this event such a great event!
